FAQs
Do you take insurance?
Like most psychotherapists in the Greater Washington area, I am an out-of-network provider at this time. Many clients are able to be partially reimbursed through their insurance company by listing me as an out-of-network provider. Please contact me if you have any questions about fees.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions needed varies from person-to-person and depends on the nature of what brings you to therapy and what your goals are. We will discuss this after our initial intake session, but will also revisit this throughout the course of therapy and revise as-needed. My goal is not to keep you in psychotherapy indefinitely; rather, to equip you with the tools you need to manage symptoms affecting your mental health. However, it is not uncommon for clients to check in over the long-term to address setbacks or prevent relapse.
Do you offer in-home appointments?
In some cases, home-based care and assessment may be possible. Please contact me to discuss your options.
Do you offer tele-therapy?
Yes, I offer tele-therapy via a secure platform.
Can a Geropsychologist conduct cognitive evaluations?
All psychologists should limit practice to their areas of competence. I have received all of the formal training and supervision required and recommended by the American Psychological Association’s Guidelines for the Evaluation of Dementia and Age-Related Cognitive Change. For specific details regarding these requirements, which I have completed, you may view the guidelines here. (Note that Guideline 1 is the most pertinent to this question.)
Do you prescribe medications?
As a clinical psychologist, I do not prescribe medications. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can prescribe medications, and who work with clients on medication management as a course of treatment. If clinically indicated, I may refer you to a psychiatrist for consideration of medication to assist in symptom management. This does not necessarily mean we will no longer work together. Many clients see both a psychologist and a psychiatrist, who work together to treat symptoms from a combined behavioral and pharmacological approach.
Are our sessions confidential?
The information you disclose in-session is confidential. There are some limits to confidentiality that we will discuss, such as if you are at risk of harming yourself or someone else, or in relation to court orders. If these situations arise, I will discuss them with you.
Where are you located?
I have private office space near downtown Bethesda, MD 20814. You will receive detailed directions after scheduling your first appointment.
